Stainless Steel 409L Tubing is a low-carbon equivalent of type 409 with improved weldability and corrosion resistance as a result of lower carbon content and availability of titanium stabilization. It has an average of 10.5–11.75% chromium with improved formability and fabricability mechanical properties. The tubing possesses a tensile strength of about 380–450 MPa and a yield strength of about 170 MPa. Its low carbon content reduces the sensitivity of welding, whereas it retains satisfactory oxidation resistance and thermal stability at elevated temperature conditions, particularly in mildly corrosive or automotive use.
